OPUS 101 Pro Audio is a specialist PC builder based in the UK, dedicated to the needs of music and audio professionals. Founded in 2021 by media composer Tristan Jakob-Hoff, OPUS 101 Pro Audio builds high-performance desktop computers engineered specifically for modern DAW workflows.
Why choose an OPUS 101 Pro Audio computer?
Founded by a media composer and lifelong PC enthusiast, OPUS 101 Pro Audio builds on first-hand knowledge of what music professionals need from a workstation. In fact, the very first OPUS 101 Pro Audio PC ever built is still powering Tristan's own music-making today.
What makes these machines so good for music and audio?
A great audio PC isn't just about raw power—it's about balance. Here's what sets our systems apart:
Best-in-Class CPU Performance
As explained in our primer on CPUs, DAWs rely heavily on single-thread processing, especially when it comes to long plugin chains. But they also need to be able to handle the demands of large orchestral templates. That's why our machines are built around the latest AMD Ryzen™ processors, offering top-tier single-core and multi-core performance.
Massive RAM for Large Templates
Our systems start at 32GB of DDR5 RAM and scale up to 192GB for those of us with way too many sample libraries and ridiculously huge orchestral templates.
Built for Silence
Our Virtuoso Series is designed for whisper-quiet operation, featuring premium cooling, custom fan curves, and optimised airflow. The Studio Series, meanwhile, is carefully designed to keep noise to a minimum despite its compact form factor.
Blazing-Fast Storage
We exclusively use high-speed NVMe SSDs, starting at 1TB at the low end and configurable up to 40TB at the top end, for rapid loading of DAW projects and sample libraries.
Loads of Connectivity
Our systems are built with connectivity in mind, and feature numerous USB ports (including USB4 on select models), WiFi 6 or 7, Gigabit Ethernet, and multi-monitor support.
But what about audio interfaces?
If you're anything like us, buying an audio interface is going to be a very personal decision, akin to buying a MIDI keyboard or monitor speakers. There are so many great options out there, which is why we think you'll do better buying from specialist music equipment retailers. But between extensive USB support and the ability to add Thunderbolt™ and FireWire compatibility to most of our models, you can rest assured that whatever you decide to get will be plug-and-playable.
Do you sell monitors, mice, keyboards?
No—we focus entirely on building the best desktop systems. Most of our customers already have their preferred peripherals, so we leave those choices up to you.
Do you ship outside the UK?
Sadly not, for all sorts of boring tax / regulatory / technical support reasons.
Can't I just build one of these things myself?
You absolutely can. Our specs are clearly detailed on our configuration pages. But here's what you'll miss out on:
- Three-year warranty & support – Peace of mind you won't get from a DIY build
- Competitive pricing – We source components from multiple suppliers to get the best deals
- Expert assembly, tuning and testing – Every machine is hand-built, cable-managed and optimised for peak performance before undergoing a comprehensive battery of stability tests lasting around 48 hours
- Custom quiet modifications – We fine-tune cooling and airflow for each build
- Windows optimisation – We make sure your Windows installation is ideally set up for low-latency audio performance
